In contrast to the dietary rules of the Law, Jesus said no food can defile a person; it is bad attitudes and actions that can make a person unholy (Matthew 15:1-20, Mark 7:1-23).
It shows us in Matthew 15: 1-20 and Mark 7: 1-23 that the foods we eat do not cause us to have bad attitudes and actions it says that food cannot defile (corrupt, pollute, ruin) a person. It is what proceeds out of our mouths which defile a person. A holy person eating unclean foods causes an unhealthy body.
NIV, Matthew 5: 17–18 -19
17 – Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 – I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen; will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 – Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called the least in heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
The dietary laws are specific in that God put everything here on earth to make for a beautiful and ecological planet. God is amazing; everything has its precious function. By the Grace of God He gave Douglas Winnall the prophetic insight to write – Do you really want to eat that? Please take the time to read his article so you can learn why the Leviticus Laws are so vital to our health.
Psalm 119: 165
165 – Great peace have those who love Your law, and nothing causes them to stumble.
