2 Corinthians 12 – 7, 8, 9, 10
7 – And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
8 – Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.
9 – And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for your strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 – Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
The Bible doesn’t exactly state what Paul’s infirmity was. None-the-less it was something that was bothering him, and he asked the Lord 3 times that it might depart from him. God had a plan though, He knew that the infirmity would keep Paul strong and focused to continue on the path that God had ordained for him, and it did. Paul was amazing; he was persecuted in so many ways, yet he continued to move forward with God’s plan.
I too have also been inflicted with an infirmity derived from my Multiple Sclerosis; I have been numb from my waist down since I was 32, and I am now 62. I used to pace the floor at night praying that God would remove the numbness from me. Again, God is amazing. He knew that I was going to acquire Osteoporosis, due to my lack of knowledge. He spared me from 50% of the pain that I would have felt, due to my numbness, from the 3 major bones that I have broken.
